How to install MT-Script-CS** on computer with Internet connection

Please, put your attention! If you find some parts of this user manual not clear, please, write to the developer (see contacts in menu). I'll try to explain it for you personally.

0. Download an installer (SETUP_MT-Script) form this site. You can download it as ZIP-achive.

1. Before you start the installer, please, check Internet connection.

2. Start the installert with admin rights (right click on SETUP_MTScript.exe and choose at the opened dialog "With administrator rights...").

MT-Script installation

3. So the dialog of installer will appear, then choose appropriate MT-Script version (1). If you work with ME-version of InDesign click on the switcher (1-1).

4. The next to the switcher you can see input lines with paths. Lets start out explanation with the last of them (4). This is the path to MathType in your computer. If MathType is not installed or its version earlier then 6.0 a signal light will be red and installation will not be allowed. You must install or update MathType before continue of MT-Script installation.

5. The middle line (3) is the path to folder with autoloaded InDesign scripts. MT-Script installer try to copy a script MT-Start-CS**.jsx to that folder to create MT-Script menu in InDesign. Why "try"? Because this is a system folder under the guard of Windows. And if you start SETUP_MTScript.exe with no admin rights Windows will not allow to put script into it. Installation will not be completed. Please, put your attention on folder icon at the right of this input line. To set path manually (if the installer can't choose path by itself) you can click on it and choose path. The green light will inform you that it is all right and installation is possible. The red light informs that you have to try to set right path or write me to get support.

Please, put your attention again!

MT-Script is system of scripts. You can install it without the installer... just dowload an archive MT-Script-CS**.zip and unzip it into appropriate folder. How to do this I've tried to explain at the last part of this article. To download the archives without the installer you can visit the page Download.

6. The input line at the top (2) is the path to the User scripts folder for your InDeisgn. If the installer can't find it (the light is red!) you have to help him by clicking of icon at right of this line and choose necessary path. In my computer this path is C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 8.0\ru_RU\Scripts\Scripts Panel\

7. You can revert to the 'factory' path settings by clicking Auto Search Path (5) button.

8. If all lights are green you can start installation. Please, click SETUP MT-Script-CS* (6).

9. When you've started Setup_MT-Script it will create a shortcut on desktop. Don't hurry to remove it. It can be useful if you'll decide to install MT-Script ones again or to update it. Please, put your attention that you must change setting of this shortcut to permit the installer start with administrator's rights.

10. Having started Setup_MTScript will check availability of update. If it is available a button UPDATE Setup_MTScript (8) will be active. Press it to update the installer (this is about update of the installer not MT-Script. To update MT-Script, please, start the installer and install MT-Script ones again.)

11. Button Pocket SETUP (7) allows to prepare a folder with archive of MT-Script. It can be useful if you want to install scripts on computer with no Internet (see below).

12. If all circles are green start SETUP MT-Script-CS* button to complete installation.

Automatical installation of MT-Script for computer with no Internet

1. Go to the computer with Internet, download Setup_MTScript.

2. Start it and choose version of MT-Script in correspondence with InDesign installed on your computer, press button Pocket SETUP. The installer will ask you to show a folder and then copy ZIP-archive of MT-Script into this folder, a file Version.txt and itself. All these files will be required to install MT-Script on another computer with no Internet.

3. Copy this folder with all content into Flash-card or CD or something else and carry to the computer with no Internet.

4. Start Setup_MTScript on computer with no Internet from the folder containing the installer archive of MTScript and file Version.txt. Start it with administrator rights.

5. Setup_MTScript will show an error message informing that the computer has not connected to Internet. Don't worry, continue installation.

6. Choose appropriate MT-Script version (1). If you work with ME-version of InDesign click on the switcher (1-1).

7. The next to the switcher you can see input lines with paths. Lets start out explanation with the last of them (4). This is the path to MathType in your computer. Important notes

1. It's very convenient to set hot keys to the most of MT-Script scripts. In this case you can start scripts by clicking keyboard keys instead of clicking on menu MT-Script-CS** in InDesign or clicking on scripts names in palette Scripts.

2. (Please, put your attention!) Before working with publication by MT-Script, UNCHECK "Skyp by Leading" in InDesign Preferences (CTRL + K) (choose Composition). This allows you to change position of equations smoothly changing setting in global preferences of MT-Script.

Manual installation of MT-Script

1. Download appropriate archive of MT-Script. Version number of MT-Script corresponds to InDesign version. MT-Script-CS6 is for using with InDesign CS6, but MT-Script-CS9 is for InDesign CC.

2. Start InDesign.

3. Open palette Scripts.

4. Find a folder User.

5. Right click on it an choose Show in Explorer. In opened folder you have to see a folder Scripts Panel. Open it. Ok, this is a place where MT-Script must be copied. Open the archive with MT-Script and copy folder MT-Script-CS* (with all scripts and subfolders containing in it) from archive into that folder.

6. Installation is completed on 99%. Now you can start MT-Script from palette SCRIPTS in InDesign.

7. But it's more convenient to start it from menu in InDesign.

— Open folder MT-Script-CS* (where all scripts are) in Explorer, find MT-Start-CS*.jsx and copy it into special folder for startup scripts for your version of InDesign. This folder is approximately here - c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CS6\Adobe InDesign\ (for InDesign CS6).

Lyrical digression. There is another folder with the same functionality. All scripts located there are launched automatically at InDesign startup.

Where is it? Open palette Scripts again, right click on folder User and open it in Explorer. You see folder Scripts Panel (see picture above)? Ok. You probably will be able to see another folder named as Startup Scripts in your computer. If no, you can just create it by yourself. Copy MT-Start-CS*.jsx in it, restart InDesign and you will see menu MT-Script-CS** in InDesign.

PLEASE, PUT YOUR ATTENTION! You have to copy MT-Start-CS*.jsx ONLY ONE TIME

to c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CS6\Adobe InDesign\ OR to Startup Scripts in User folder (approximately here- c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CS***\Adobe InDesign\, либо C:\Users\*****\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\ru_RU\Scripts\Startup Scripts).

Please, it MUST NOT BE simultaneously in all those folders! OK?

— So, MT-Start-CS*.jsx has been copied. Start or restart InDesign. You see some alerts. No problems, just click OK. Start earlier saved InDesign document (It doesn't matter which one). Open palette Scripts, find MT-Dialog-CS**.jsx in MT-Script-CS* folder and click on it. A dialog box will appear, click OK. That's all, MT-Script is ready to work for you.
